Pre Fabulous began in 2006 when Fornicola Butuzova and Amo Lambeau began creating buildings they sold, to earn spending money to support their shopping and partying habits in Second Life. Sale by sale their business grew until 2009 when they both decided that it was time to go full time and create homes, stores, and other buildings in Second Life for a living.
Pre Fabulous does not follow the “Features and Fashion” way of thinking about building in SL, they rather take a more narrative approach to serving the needs of Second Life residents. Their belief is that people come to Second Life to realize fantasies or express some other ideal of themselves. If they want to fall in love in a tropical paradise, be the toast of the Manhattan skyline, or the Lord of a mighty kingdom, whatever their dream maybe they need help.
Rather than chase trends, Forni and Amo, focused on helping Second Life players tell their story. They created buildings that have a reason for existing, buildings that convey an emotional connection to the story their customers want to tell. One of their core beliefs is “A house is made of bricks… A home is made of cracks”. It is the cracks that tell the story of a house that say something about why it is there, who lived there, of the experiences that were shared, between its walls.
To Forni and Amo one of the easiest things to do is use technology to make something shiny. One of the hardest things to do is to use the latest technology to reach somebody, to evoke an emotion, to connect to those things inside people that make Second Life seem more real, more worth while.
That connection is what serves people in SL, much more so than gadgets and gimmicks. Forni and Amo believe that service is more than just answering an IM, or redelivering a box. At its core it is realizing what their customers are trying to express, and serving that need to express it. If you have not helped them express themselves, helped them become deeply connected, to that second identity they come here for, you have not served them.
The Lanai Beach House –
—————————————————————————————————————
Who doesn’t want to live in Hawaii? But what most people understand of Hawaii is only what they see form the lobby of a hotel, or the table of a seafood restaurant. Lanai represents true contemporary Hawaiian style, sleek and modern but never forgetting the organic nature of the islands.
The Great House of Boonturabi –
————————————————————————————————————–
This build is all about about a secret. It is that place you go where nobody can find you. Most tropical builds focus on a luxurious and pampered life style, but luxury and pampering come at a cost greater than money. It sacrifices your peace and privacy.
Enormous pools require cleaning, ornamental landscaping requires trimming, elegant dinners require cooking, and all that is done by people. Boonturabi is that place where the morning after watching the sunrise, when you finally drift off to rest you will never hear a “Knock knock… Housekeeping”.
It is for those who have realized that the ultimate luxury is time away from the world, spent alone with those you love. Boonturabi was designed to be a place that is old. That has been faded and baked by the sun for decades. A place where nothing you see reminds you of the world you left behind. A place where you come to realize that sun faded teak wood and the sun setting over the vast undisturbed ocean is more beautiful than any Koi Pond could ever hope to be.
Coming Soon – Untitled – Exclusive sneak preview for RFL Home & Garden Expo
—————————————————————————————————————
This is the very first Modern home from Pre Fabulous. It is very close to completion but they have given us some prerelease photos to share. Modern is a style that began by challenging the rules, breaking down the pre-conceptions of what is considered proper. The reality is that, in Second Life, Modern has now become the cliche. It is such a popular style that builder’s repeat the same themes and concepts over and over.
The pre-production design of this build required Forni to “UN-learn” many ideas about modern builds in SL. She purposefully sequestered her brain, in a sense, and approached the build as though she was an independently thinking architect in 1930, commissioned to build a unique home for a wealthy actor, author, composer or other creative icon.
Somebody who took great pride in individualism and cared nothing for the opinions of others.
This home is currently 95% complete and is planned to be on display at the SL Home, Garden & Patio Expo.
We, here at RFL of SL Home, Garden, & Patio, want to thank Pre Fabulous for the sneak preview and for being a sponsor, helping us bring to you the best that Second Life has to offer.
