The Literary Festival (AKA Litfest) at Fantasy Faire 2020 returns for the sixth time and this time it has a sandy setting to honour a sandy storyline.

Litfest doesn’t just deal with the written word, it also delves into the spoken word with discussion groups, workshops, author talks, tours of the regions and much more.

The main setting for this year’s Litfest is Drifts of Anamnesis., an appropriate setting because this year Litfest pays homage to Scheherazade and the Tales of 1,001 Nights.

Monday April 27th will see discussions and events centred around the tales of 1,001 nights, also known as The Arabian nights. As the blurb notes, not all versions of 1,001 nights contain the same stories. Sinbad, Ali Baba and Aladdin arrived in later versions.

This year’s guest of honour is award winning Science Fiction and Fantasy author, Fran Wilde.

Fran Wilde is the author of short stories and novels, including Updraft: A Novel (Bone Universe), winner of the 2015 Andre Norton Award for Best Young Adult Science Fiction and Fantasy. Another novel, Riverland, was a finalist for the 2019 Nebula awards.

Fran Wilde also manages to find the time to take up the role of Genre Fiction MFA, at Western Colorado University.

Fran Wilde is scheduled to appear in Second Life at 3pm on Tuesday April 28th , where Fran will be interviewed by Saffia Widdershins.

There’s more, as well as discussions, workshops, open mic events and tours there are also opportunities to write stories or poems and have them published on the Fantasy Faire website as part of the LitFest Tours and Regions Writing Challenge.

Therefore if you’re full of creative ideas, put some pen to paper and share your stories. Litfest is an open and inclusive event, they even allow Trolls to partake in the activities, I would imagine it keeps them distracted from the concept of putting humans and other beings into a cooking pot.

To keep abreast of events at LitFest, please keep an eye on the LitFest schedule, I find it is best viewed in Agenda view.
