Fantasy Faire 2020 in Second Life is now officially open, as announced on the official Fantasy Faire website.

Fantasy Faire is part of the Relay for Life fundraising efforts in Second Life, raising money for the American Cancer Society, as well as other good causes over the years.

Last year’s Fantasy Faire raised USD$$68,173, this was in quite a substantial part thanks to a donation of USD$20,000 from an anonymous source who pledged the amount if USD$40,000 could be raised by the Second Life community.

This year’s Fantasy Faire comprises of 18 regions, 13 displaying creators wares and the other 5 reserved for a quest, a memorial garden, the literary festival, performance stages, art and more.

This year’s event sees the main activities scheduled to run until May 5th and then the regions will be open until May 10th for people to explore.

The calendar of events, as the name implies, is a place to check out the planned events during the faire. This includes DJ events, performances, roleplay classes, the literary and tabletop gaming.

Elephants and Face

Roleplay will involve two groups who are familiar to Fantasy Faire in the shape and form of the dark roleplay themed Sanctuary as well as an appearance from the Grizzly Cubs, who were last year known as the Bubo Owls.

The NeoVictoria project will be hosting meet and greet sessions and on top of this, there will be roleplay classes.

The Literary Festival returns for its sixth year and this year pays homage to Scheherazade and the tales of the 1,001 nights.

The guest of honour at this year’s literary festival is science fiction author Fran Wilde.

Arts and Entertainment includes dance and particle theatre performances as well as art galleries.

As always there’s plenty to see and do and as always, the first few days are likely to be busy and may induce lag. Please dress appropriately for the events, that means try not to wear too many scripted items and heavy hair if you can avoid it.

If you’re looking for a place to start, then Fairelands Junction is the place to head, you can find portals to all the other regions there.
