Linden Lab’s Second Life is all set to celebrate its official 16th birthday from June 20th to July 8th.
Technically Second Life is a little bit older than 16, Steller Sunshine, the first non Linden to enter the virtual world, entered Second Life on the 13th March 2002, but the 23rd of June 2003, is the date when Second Life officially launched to the public.
SL16B will have a 50’s style retro theme to celebrate becoming “Sweet Sixteen”. Although on a personal level when I hear “Sweet Sixteen” it reminds me of my Dad playing his Irish records on a Sunday morning when I was a young lad and having to listen to The Fureys and Davey Arthur, but that’s a different story for a different day!
Some key dates to take note of for SL16B are :
- SL16B Open to the Public: 10am (SLT) June 20th – July 8th, 2019
- SL16B Shopping & Gift Event: June 20th – July 8th, 2019
- SL16B Music Faire: June 21st – June 22nd, 2019
- Meet the Lindens: June 24th – June 27th, 2019 – 2pm (PDT)
SL16B will feature many events and activities, highlight some of the diverse groups that engage with Second Life and of course there will be shopping and partying.
