Oz and April Linden Appear at Meet The Lindens

Oz Linden, Senior Director, Second Life Engineering and April Linden, Systems Engineering Manager, Operations, appeared at Meet The Lindens last night, with Saffia Widdershins asking some questions and moderator Patch Linden asking more by presenting questions from the audience.

This was an interesting discussion that included background on Oz and April and some very interesting and at times, personal, revelations as well as interesting discussion on technical issues, developments and processes at Linden Lab in terms of Second Life.

A couple of points of interest will have been with regards to the discussion about Second Life names, including the planned return of last names and the Environmental Enhancement Project, also known as EEP, which is at its heart an update to Windlight settings in Second Life.

Linden Lab have published more details on how to Meet the Lindens & Moles This Week in Second Life.

The agenda is :

Ebbe Linden 2pm SLT Wednesday June 26th.
Strawberry Linden and Xiola Linden 2pm SLT Thursday June 27th.

SL16B Is Now Open!

Linden Lab have announced that, It’s Time to Celebrate Second Life – SL16B is Officially Open!

A good place to start is the welcome area, where you can pick up a complete avatar to get in the 50’s theme for the sweet sixteen celebrations.

There are over 170 community exhibits at SL16B and you can get an overview of what they are and where they are by visiting the dedicated SL16B Destination Guide.

Second Life Gets Set To Turn 16

Linden Lab’s Second Life is all set to celebrate its official 16th birthday from June 20th to July 8th.

Technically Second Life is a little bit older than 16, Steller Sunshine, the first non Linden to enter the virtual world, entered Second Life on the 13th March 2002, but the 23rd of June 2003, is the date when Second Life officially launched to the public.

SL16B will have a 50’s style retro theme to celebrate becoming “Sweet Sixteen”. Although on a personal level when I hear “Sweet Sixteen” it reminds me of my Dad playing his Irish records on a Sunday morning when I was a young lad and having to listen to The Fureys and Davey Arthur, but that’s a different story for a different day!

Some key dates to take note of for SL16B are :
