Fantasy Faire 2013 – Thank You Fantasy Faire From American Cancer Society

Fantasy Faire is still running, but a group notice has been sent with a thank you letter from The American Cancer Society, details below.

Faireland Relayers,

While I watch the tremendous success of the Fantasy Faire, I feel compelled to write a personal note of congratulations and thank you to the people who organize this wonderful event every year. Since Fantasy Faire began, you all have worked to raise almost $100,000 USD for the American Cancer Society and you should be proud of your efforts.

I, and the American Cancer Society appreciate everyone who has donated their time, talent, and Lindens throughout all the years, and this year is no exception. This year, I have seen some of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen in Second Life. I have heard from countless others who share the same sense of wonder and amazement. In fact, I can quote one friend who said, “I’ve never seen anything like this in Second Life.” And that’s from someone who is in Second Life every day, and has been for many years.

I encourage you all to remain steadfast in your commitment to a noble goal – to raise awareness and money to help the American Cancer Society to finish the fight against cancer. Elizabeth Tinsley has done a remarkable job leading the organizing committee these last two years, and has continued the tradition of delivering a magical experience of walking through the Faire, and for exposing us to the great diversity that makes up the Fantasy genre in Second Life. The designers who have donated wonderful objects in the Relay For Life vendors should be thanked, and the people who spend so much time and money at the Faire are just as important to the success of the event.

This donation of talent reminds us all of the noble spirit of people from all over the world, who put aside their selfish ambitions for the greater good of society. I applaud all of you for finding a way to use this virtual world to make a significant difference in the real world.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
