The Second Life Community Celebrations to mark Second Life’s official 13th birthday are in full swing and there’s a lot going on, so much going on that for a visitor it may be a tad daunting, but fear not, there are ways of finding out what’s going on.
Your first port of call should be the Second Life Community Celebration Website because this will contain detailed information.
The website contains blogs, event information, region information and much more. Now an important thing to note here is that there’s a hell of a lot going on and this is useful to know because it means that if you find a region is full and you can’t get in, there’s a very good chance something else will be going on at the same time and you may very well be able to get into that event.
As an example, Monday’s schedule for 4pm SLT (16:00 SLT) offers :
- DJ Tarantula Bombastic – DJ Stage
- Live Reading Of HP Lovecraft – Auditorium
- Maxx Sabretooth – Cake Stage
- Retune Resident – Live Stage
- BubbaC John – Stage Left
So there’s a mix of DJ’s, live music and storytelling at the same time, so plenty of choice.
Another invaluable resource comes in the form of the SL13B section of the destination guide. This may initially look daunting as there are at the moment 157 destinations but fear not, they are nicely broken down into smaller bite sized pieces :
The SL13B Shopping and Gift Events takes you away from the main birthday celebration regions to other events that are going on within Second Life, but fear not.
In those SL13B Shopping and Gift Events regions you will still find gifts and cake!
Now the main event regions can be busy, you may find your performance stats dipping but be patient or move to another regions Now if you’re taking snapshots, this might be painful for some or objects and avatars may rez slowly, but again, have patience.
An important thing to note is that you will find Lindens lurking around, above I spotted Whitney Linden, who seemed to be contemplating taking to the dance floor at the Cake Stage, but seemed a bit shy.
Rider Linden on the other hand, was hovering, on a strange device that may or may not have been steampunk related.
The party animals amongst the Lindens were also around with Xiola and April Linden strutting around the dance floor. Alexa Linden was there too but as I struggled to line her up for a snapshot, she magically teleported out of there.
As I said, patience is key here, sometimes it will get extremely busy but if you want to just explore, meet some greeters and find information about what’s going on, head for the welcome area.
SL13B Welcome Area
Confused about where to start at SL13B? The Welcome Area is a centralized spot where you can get oriented to all the many community booths and events at the celebration.

Most importantly, have fun, there’s plenty to see, plenty to do and probably not enough time to explore it all, but there is plenty of fun to be had and this is how it should be, it is a celebration, so get partying!
So far i could only be able to teleport to 10 years of sailing regions.
Every single time i try to go to the cake or any other central region i crash:(
