Fantasy Faire 2015 in Second Life is just over a couple of weeks away now, but you don’t have to wait until Fantasy Faire opens to join in. A recent blog post on the official Fantasy Faire website informs us : Waiting For Fantasy Faire To Open? Here Are Five Things You Can Do Now!
1) Make sure you are following the Fantasy Faire blog.
Well this is a pretty easy one, but it’s also an important one. There are a few ways to keep your eyes on blogs, you can bookmark the Fantasy Faire website. Then there’s the follow feature which is available on WordPress blogs which will email you details.
Then there’s the old fashioned way, note the URL : https://fantasyfairesl.wordpress.com/
2) Take the “Why I Relay” challenge
Fantasy Faire is part of the Relay For Life fundraising effort in Second Life and the purpose of the “Why I Relay” challenge is for people who want to share their reasons for supporting the Relay For Life event. This is a challenge that is open to anyone, you don’t need to be a blogger.
A way of sharing your reasons has been provided by Catalina Staheli, who is taking portraits of people for the challenge.
For more details read this blog post or take a look at Catalina’s Flickr Page.
3) Give the Fantasy Faire team your choices for the King and Queen of Fantasy Faire – and for their Chancellor too!
Who is your favourite character from Film, TV or literature? Would you like to see Rincewind crowned King Of Fantasy Faire? This is an equal opportunities event, so there’s also a nomination for Chancellor, who shall be a non-human character.
For more details, click here, where you will also find the simple form to submit your nominations.
Please note that this is a multiple stage event, you need to have submitted your nominations via the form before Fantasy Faire opens on April 23rd. The top five in each category will then be placed inside voting kiosks at the event inside Second Life, which visitors to the Faire will vote on and the winners will be crowned at the Fantasy Faire ball between 5pm – 7pm on May 1st.
4) Book in to lead a session at the Fantasy Faire Literary Festival
Do you like to tell stories? At this year’s Fantasy Faire storytellers will be, well, telling stories. There are also discussion groups and workshops planned with the theme of fantasy storytelling.
For more details read the Words Of Power blog post, where you will also find a link to the application form to be a storyteller.
5) Follow Fantasy Faire on other social media!
Fantasy Faire is of course a social event and one way of sharing information about social events is via Social Media.
