Linden Lab have announced that, It’s Time to Celebrate Second Life – SL16B is Officially Open!
A good place to start is the welcome area, where you can pick up a complete avatar to get in the 50’s theme for the sweet sixteen celebrations.
There are over 170 community exhibits at SL16B and you can get an overview of what they are and where they are by visiting the dedicated SL16B Destination Guide.

Technically Second Life is a little bit older than 16, Steller Sunshine, the first non Linden to enter the virtual world, entered Second Life on the 13th March 2002, but the 23rd of June 2003, is the date when Second Life officially launched to the public.
SL16B will have a 50’s style retro theme to celebrate becoming “Sweet Sixteen”. Although on a personal level when I hear “Sweet Sixteen” it reminds me of my Dad playing his Irish records on a Sunday morning when I was a young lad and having to listen to The Fureys and Davey Arthur, but that’s a different story for a different day!
Some key dates to take note of for SL16B are :
Fantasy Faire 2019 had a target of raising US$40,000 for the American Cancer Society as part of its Relay For Life fundraising efforts.
News then arrived that if Fantasy Faire did indeed reach its target, an anonymous organisation would add US$20,000 to the pot.
The good news is that US$40,000 has been raised by Second Life residents and the US$20,000 has been donated by the anonymous organisation.

The word on the Fantasy Faire street is that this year’s fundraising efforts for Relay For Life could receive a whopping US$20K boost if this year’s Fantasy Faire raise US$40K by May 5th.
