The Second Life 11th Birthday celebrations are just around the corner and many people have applied to be part of the event. Now as applications are closed and people are awaiting responses, there may be a bit of anxiety regarding whether or not your application has been accepted, the message from a MadMan … umm the organisers, is, don’t panic!
The event will be running from June 22nd to June 29th and this year’s theme is Winston Churchill ….. wait wait wait.. what? Oh sorry, the theme cant be Winston Churchill because he enjoyed alcohol and cigars, neither of which are welcome on General rated sims, the theme for this year’s event is “The empires of the future are the empires of the mind“, which is a quote from Winston Churchill.
This quote provides quite a wide scope for people to create displays for and it will be extremely interesting to see what people come up with.
Second Life birthdays of course always throw up the issue of when Second Life started, I mean Steller Sunshine is 12 already! However this is officially the eleventh birthday, which isn’t quite as impressive as a certain someone with a magic ring reaching their eleventy first birthday, but it is still an impressive milestone in virtual world history. I think they may have missed a trick by not having a ring based theme now that I think about it… then again with intellectual property laws being what they are, they are probably treading a more sensible path by avoiding that!
Anyway back to the main point, if you’re awaiting a response to your application, be patient, apparently there have been somewhere between 3 and 756 billion applications …
