Tyche Shepherd informed us on Saturday that Adult rated regions now outnumber general rated regions, this the first time that this has been the case. The state of play has changed slightly since Saturday and on Sunday looked like this:
- 3,940 – Adult
- 3,925 – General
- 19,836 – Moderate.
So Adult has just pipped general but Moderate is still the rating of choice. Adult rated sims make up around 14.2% of the grid, however they are more popular with private region owners than Linden Lab’s mainland.
Which brings us on to more of Tyche Shepherd’s statistical goodies. This week’s update over at SLUniverse informs us that the grid is lighter to the tune of 84, however 44 of these are Linden Owned and were largely made up of Linden Realms and Premium Wilderness sims, however that still means there are 40 private regions no longer on the grid. Now for the updated stats:
- Estate – Adult: 3,594
- Estate – General: 2,200
- Estate – Moderate: 14,809
- Estate – Offline: 4
- Linden – Adult: 346
- Linden – General: 1,725
- Linden – Moderate: 5,027
Now getting into percentages is interesting because it demonstrates how private regions have a different look when it comes to ratings. We’ll start with overall percentages on region ratings:
- Adult – 14.2%
- General – 14.2%
- Moderate 71.6%
However when it comes to just Linden owned mainland, the picture looks like this:
- Adult – 4.9%
- General – 24.3%
- Moderate – 70.8%
There we can see major shifts from the overall pattern in terms of General, which is much higher and Adult, which is much lower. Moderate though is pretty much close to the overall picture. Now let’s take a look at how this looks on Private Regions:
- Adult 17.4%
- General – 10.7%
- Moderate – 71.9%
Now we don’t see such huge shifts in region ratings from the overall picture, when we just look at Estate land, which is probably quite telling. Adult is more popular than General when it comes to private regions, but moderate is still king.
As I’ve said before, an adult rating does not automatically mean porn or even adult activities in the wild, some people just like the flexibility of rating their region as adult. However many adult regions do have very adult themes.
Adult rated sims have been on the increase for a while now, 22 more private regions have gone adult this week, I don’t know if these are new regions or whether the owners have changed the rating. I don’t leave my own land inworld often enough to get much of a handle on what’s happening here, whether adult activity is on the rise or whether people just prefer an adult rating, time will tell I guess.
