Ok ok changes to the UI are fine, changes to how things look are fine, changes to the voice over on Second Life videos tutorials? This isn’t fine!! What has happened to Torley?
On a more serious note, these tutorials are worth a look…. with or without Torley! It’s also worth reading the November update blog post that has more details about the new viewer release.
So Torley, who has been making some bizarre posts on Twitter and comments on his SL profile about being Olivia Dunham … or something like that, isn’t doing the voice on these videos, why I don’t know because friendly greetings is such a familar opening to a vid tutorial along with the im ding ding!
However back to the tutorials, because they’re useful and things have changed, they are also short, the first part I posted above, this is part 2 which covers setting up toolbars and customising them:
The third and final video tutorial covers some new features, including how they’ve merged the basic and advanced viewers, which I like because I liked the destinations tab on basic mode but not having inventory etc. made it a very painful experience, so they’ve taken the good parts of basic viewer and left them in the main viewer, as well as moving some menu items around again:
So there we have it, three useful, short and to the point tutorials, well worth a look ….. but no Torley!
Now they just need to get rid of that horrible “notify you by hiding it from you” way of managing IMs, group messages, and invites. If they bring back the old communication manager window I think they would have a winner they could finally call SL 2.0 Public Beta. Oh wait…
Well from the looks of the new beta viewer, don’t get too used to anything! Messaging needs to be improved, it’s still rather irritating.
