There was a point at yesterday’s Adult Content User Group Meeting where Viale Linden pleaded for no more private IM’s, claiming “I am not a bot” … however questions are still abound whether or not Viale is a bot because he seems to come out with phrases that are straight out of a management course book, take a look at the agenda:
1. Facilitate sustainable, productive communities by partnering with key groups and residents. (different from executing on a community wishlist).
2. Bring the value forward .
3. Focus on sustainable movements, not discrete campaigns. Source the community for naturally sustaining, organic initiatives that scale and utilize trusted community resources while still aligning with corporate goals. Move away from LL-driven events and start spotting movements with natural momentum.
4. Embrace community content as an untapped, invaluable resource.
Hmmmm.
These meetings move forward at a snail’s pace with proposals, arguments, counter arguments and countless minutes spent with people asking others to follow the agenda. There are a lot of egos involved and there’s most certainly something amiss with the conflicting groups and yet, they all want the same thing, better visibility.
I generally attend these meetings just in case something something positive really does raise its head, although now I’m attending them to keep an eye on a plan to get control of four sims that are currently under Linden control, these things need to be watched carefully. These sims are a bone of contention and are controlled by a Linden Group that is also a bone of contention, Viale has made it clear that Linden Lab want to back away from involvement with groups such as this, so at some point these issues will come to a head.
There’s also the issue of a sim called Zindra, which some want renamed as apparently some people land on that sim and think that’s all that the Zindra continent contains. Personally I feel the name should stand as it’s arguably the most recognised continent name around and people are told Zindra is the home of adult content, despite the fact that adult estate sims outumber Zindra mainland sims.
I also liked the idea of an art exhibition and suggested this could help forge links with the Linden Endownment For The Arts and LL could widen the participation in the private adult forum so that some of the discussion that holds up these meetings could be taken to the forum, but you wouldn’t know I attend these meetings from the official minutes as I’m erased from them.
The adult community need to find more consenus instead of confrontation, but that has been the case for a long while now and until they realise they’re holding progress up, the roadblocks will ensure progress moves along very slowly and they have had a start warning from Viale that if these meetings appear fruitless, they will end, whether the participants at the meeting pay any heed to that warning remains to be seen.
