Yesterday Oz and April Linden explained the issues with bringing back last names, but Linden Lab are going to do it.
Today, Ebbe Altberg explained why Linden Lab have recently made some changes to fees, with Ebbe firmly coming down on the side of the tier being too damn high!
Ebbe’s comments will not be welcomed by all and it’s understandable that merchants who are facing increased fees will remain angry about the change but I am firmly in the “The Tier is too Damn High!” camp and I welcome attempts by Linden Lab to shift the balance of their revenue model away from land ownership and into other areas.
I sympathise with those who are going to be hurt by these changes but for far too long, Linden Lab’s main source of revenue has been land and that has created an unhealthy situation for those who want to create the resources that fellow content creators can share the wealth with.
I welcome Ebbe’s stance, even though it means my personal premium membership will increase. Linden Lab need to share the costs of the platform with those who have an economic interest in it. I understand that this may be painful, but it is long overdue.
