Lab Chat took place today at the LEA Theatre in Second Life. I’m not going to delve into the details of what was said in this post, I need to listen to the recording again when it’s available, but I do want to talk about how Lab Chat draws crowds and the format works well.
Saffia Widdershins and Jo Yardley ask the panel questions that have been submitted via the Second Life forum. This format means that there is not a lot of shouting at the panelists and gives them time to answer the questions.
The panel today included Oz Linden, Ebbe Linden and Troy Linden and they all sit in comfortable looking armchairs. One complaint may be that the seats spectators sit in don’t look quite so comfortable!
They do allow entry to all sorts for these events, even those armed with microphones.
If you have never seen a Linden inworld then Lab Chat is the place to be, because as well as Linden panelists, there are also plenty behind the curtain ensuring everything goes well.
Patch and Xiola Linden were close to the action.
Pete Linden lurked as only Pete Linden can.
The moles are represented too, as exemplified by Ancient Mole.
There are also bloggers.
Content creators such as Eku Zhong.
Fashionista extraordinaire Strawberry Singh and the well known Cube Republic.
All the way from The Wastelands we also saw Neobokrug Elytis.
Whereas the chairs may not look that comfy, they are well used. Indeed two of the three regions in the vicinity were full.
Those of us who can remember the old Linden office hours know how easily large meetings can end up being difficult to manage. Lab Chat manages the crowd and the content very well.
This won’t be everyone’s cup of tea and most Second Life residents will be most interested in the content. That will be discussed over the next few days and people will draw their own conclusions. Further discussion is definitely healthy.

Just a few hours later, Sl was weird for like ages and that was the concern of most in world.
So i hope that less talking and more reliability is in place for the future.
