Regular readers of blog may be familiar with the fact that I’m a big fan of Storytelling and I’m happy to see quite a few storytelling groups in virtual worlds. Some are in Second Life, some go beyond Second Life’s borders but they all have a story to tell.
In this post I’m going to list some of the forthcoming events from The Alexandrian Free Library in Second Life. The Alexandrian Free Library is a community based group, supporting libraries in Second Life and their members come from lands such as :
Caledon, Winterfell, Steelhead, New Toulouse, New Babbage, Amatsu Shima, West of Ireland, Steeltopia, Deadwood, Al Andalus & Constantinople.
With that said, on with the forthcoming events :

11:00am – 12:00pm SLT
Where: Accademia di Rocca Sorrentina
http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Rocca%20Sorrentina/79/46/23
Description:
Benjamin Franklin was, in many ways, the quintessential example of The Enlightenment. Largely self-educated, Franklin was a successful, self-made businessman, a printer and author, a scientist and inventor, a political philosopher, statesman and diplomat. He was instrumental in the framing of the American Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. An accomplished diplomat, he was widely admired among the French as American minister to Paris during the American Revolution. Franklin’s autobiography was written in four sections throughout his life and remained unpublished until after his death when the first section was first published in French in 1791 under the title “The Private Life of the late Benjamin Franklin, LL.D.” All four sections were not published in English until 1838. Franklin’s Autobiography is not only important as a record of the man himself but as a classic of literature. In this work, Franklin’s persona comes alive and presents a man whose greatness does not keep him from being down-to-earth and approachable, who faces up to mistakes and blunders (“Errata”) he has committed in life, and who presents personal success as something within the reach of anyone willing to work hard enough for it.
The discussion today will focus on Chapters I – X.
A copy of the book may be obtained from the green table in the Accademia di Rocca Sorrentina.
