One of Second Life’s more serene locations is Raglan Shire. Home of the tinies, a place where you imagine birds singing, workers singing, animals singing, sun shining, a place of general happiness. However not during October, during October Raglan Shire celebrates Shocktober and a shocking experience it is indeed.
We’re talking zombies roaming the streets here, yes, in Raglan Shire! You still spot a few tinies around, and they do seem to be merry, but there are strange happenings afoot here with ghosts floating around and a very worrying fog enveloping you.
Now if you think you can escape the horrors on the streets you may think that heading indoors is the thing to do, think again! The Silent Peacock hotel may look welcoming but that soon welcoming feeling changes very quickly once you go inside.
I saw Loki Eliot heading in there earlier with a bunch of friends and felt that it must be some sort of sanctuary. However I was wrong! The words “Red Rum” spring to mind once you enter the hotel and I’m not talking about the three times Grand National winning horse!
I witnessed one poor soul being splattered by spikes from the ground. Skeletons and ghouls lie in the hallways and worse, much much worse, the scary girl is there!
Whereas Raglan Shire is usually a lovely place to visit, you go there at your own peril during Shocktober!
Raglan Shire Shocktober 2014
Short on stature, long on spook, Raglan Shire’s Shocktober has something for everyone! Come see the haunted carnival, hotel and rides, the graveyard, live performances, trick or treats, Sci-fi Radio Theatre and so much more! Explore the sim, see if you can survive the intensity of Shocktober.

Did you make it up to the Haunted Carnival or Ride of Horrors? There are signs outside the hotel that will let you teleport there. They should both be up through Sunday, so if you want to see them (and the Ride of Horrors is made by residents of the sims and changes from year to year) do hurry before they’re gone!
