Hmm I’m getting worried about this now, Hamlet has informed us that Kim Linden has left Linden Lab, largely it seems due to having to commute from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Kim was rather quiet as VP of Marketing, but came from a background of having worked in the gaming industry, I bumped into Kim at the Valentine event earlier in the year:
Kim’s dodgy looking hair is due to the lag! That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. As Kim was so quiet, it’s hard to know exactly what she achieved in her time at Linden Lab, but there have been improved marketing initiatives during her time here.
As I said in my previous post, the login screen is greatly improved, the destination guide is greatly improved, I have no idea if Kim was involved in the concepts there, nor whether she was involved in the adverts to try and attract vampire fans, but they are all marketing related. There have also been improvements to the Second Life homepage with a better selection of photographs and a little bit of machinima making an appearance.
I would like to have heard more from Kim during her time at Linden Lab as I like to hear from the head honchos, it makes you feel they’re around and not buried in paperwork away from Second Life. I wish Kim all the best in her future endeavours though.
At the same Valentine event, I ran into Amanda Linden:
Amanda of course left earlier in the year, around the same time as Courtney left …. there’s a theme here, although I didn’t get into the kissing booth with Courtney, there was a queue for Courtney! Evil Drow Wizards only have so many hours in the day.
However I did get into the booth with Brooke:
I think Brooke is still around …. I haven’t heard a peep from Brooke but if Brooke has gone, I’m definitely not going to next year’s Valentine event!
