Amanda Has Left The Building?

The word on the street is that Amanda has left the building, rather oddly I’d seen people suggesting Amanda had left and thought they were getting confused, but it looks as if there is no confusion and Linden Lab look to be past employers of one of Mark Kingdon’s appointments. Amanda had previously worked for Organic, as of course had Mark Kingdon.

Amanda wasn’t without her faults, but who isn’t, however she did seem keen to get on with things, which is a trait in her that I admired. The surprising thing about Amanda’s apparent departure is that recently at the adult user group meeting she had been telling us that Blondin would be replaced but she’d be chairing the meeting until such time as a replacement for Blondin was appointed.

Amanda has of course not always seen eye to eye with me, and others. However that is quite natural, I don’t see eye to eye with many people! Amanda however was a community person, as was Blondin and the loss of both of them is disappointing for me, community people are important, they bring a different dynamic to the Linden Lab management team.

I would like to think that Amanda has gone on to better things, which is of course natural in the employment world, I hope she didn’t get all feisty and tell someone where to stick the job! Amanda could play the good cop, bad cop role well, here she is being good cop as I kissed her at the valentine’s event:

The word on the street could of course be off target and Amanda is still at Linden Lab, although words I’ve read elsewhere really do suggest she’s history. Whatever she’s doing, I hope she’s doing well.

  1. No. Lexie confirmed Amanda has gone.

Courtney has apparently gone as well – left on the 10th June; no official word, tho. However, looks likely as all SL8B communications *cough* from LL are now from “Linden Lab” and not “Courtney Linden”.

I have to be honest, I don’t see Amanda’s departure as a loss. As a “Kung-fu Marketer” as she liked to tag herself, her strategies were all too frequently flawed (and no, I *don’t* buy the line, “she was only doing what those upstairs allowed”); as a communicator, she was largely reliant on spin to get past the hard questions, or (to be brutally honest) ineffective / misguided (“go to Facebook”, anyone?).

Personally, I think Courtney is a far greater loss when it comes to community relations (which was supposedly part of Amanda’s brief). She was at least *engaged* and *involved*.

    1. Courtney is on my Monday list, she was much underrated.

I know you weren’t an Amanda Fan Delicia Whipsnaps.
