Ad Widgets For Events Please

One of the things I like most about the destination guide are the ad widgets, you click a destination, click create ad widget, change your options and you get some code to paste into a blog or website and voila:

Goatswood

Delve deep into the dark past of Goatswood, a SGS Victorian role-play sim set in a mysterious English village. Goatswood features an incredibly intricate, detailed world, a unique story system, multiple character possibilities, Victorian social classes, structured role-play and magic systems, covens to join and plenty to explore and do. Will Goatswood be your escape, or is it what you’re escaping from?

Visit in Second Life

I’d love to see this extended to events, I can’t find a way of doing it for events. Events inworld, when you click more info, give you a nice display:

An Image Should Be Here
Inworld Event

Now an event ad widget, similar to the destination guide ad widget, to create event ad widgets would be beneficial for people who want to create events and post details on websites because it looks a lot neater.

I might be missing something here, I’ve only just discovered Map Links, so I often don’t pay attention to the tools available to us. Map Links are supposed to allow you to use an image of up to 250 x 250 and enter some text of your own. I can get the text working but I can’t get the image to play nicely, here’s an example.

However allowing people to type their own text means they can use the Map Links feature to create links to their event and have a nice explanation, but it doesn’t help when it comes to website promotions. I could hack away at the destination guide ad widget, butcher it and change the code to do what I want, but that would be a little bit rude. I’d like to see a simple click and generate code option when it comes to events, this would add some richness to promoting events.

Of course a lot of people simply create their own image for events and then post text details, that’s what my chief Elf does. However with event ad widgets we’d have the best of both worlds and even Linden Lab could join in the fun because compared to the destination guide the events listings on the Second Life website look very bland and lacking in depth, the formatting is not great, there are no paragraphs for a start!

This sort of thing might not be easy to implement, it’s certainly not a show stopper, but it is a nice to have.
