Take Me To Your Leader

I’ve been spending way too much time in Blender, building, thinking I can do this better, fretting about the lighting, so then lights go out, walls come tumbling down, yes they do …. anyway! So Linden Lab seem to have gone on a communications strike, the blog isn’t being updated and Rodvik is missing in action! What the bloody hell is going on?

One theory doing the rounds in the forumsphere is that Rodvik got to know the users and then pondered “What’s that coming over the hill? Is it a monster? Is it a Monster?” However that doesn’t explain why the main blog is so bereft of … well blogginess. They already know us!

So what the bloody hell is going on? Your guess is as good as mine, but we can ponder.

Did Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter see LL’s adverts about Second Life and wipe out the staffers? Have they got out of theirs faces on pre SL9B cheer? I mean there must be some explanation for the forum issues whereby people couldn’t login, or even login to support portal to report they couldn’t login to the forum!

A wee bit of encouragement that Linden Lab staff haven’t gone on to shiny new pastures would be nice around now, a bit of oomph, a bit of talking to us like lovers do. I mean I know it’s been a rocky relationship between Linden Lab and the userbase but right now I feel like we’re Jenny and LL are in the Jenny was a friend of mine mindset, it started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this? Oh wait, wrong song!

Seriously, Linden Lab, talk to us! Say hello, don’t wave goodbye!

  1. Rodvik is characteristically absent from the discourse. So be it. Silence on Second Life 2.0. And no comment on the fact that his staff was picking SL Pics of the Day from photos on Flickr and posting them, irregardless of whether the photo was All Rights Reserved or Creative Commons. Damage Control seems to be the Modus Operandi, and the best is Silence.

    1. I didn’t realise that the pic of the day idea wasn’t original, World of Warcraft do it, well they don’t do pic of the day but they have a similar concept.

I’m not familiar with the row about rights, so I can’t comment on it, do you have a link?

  2. Backstory: Whiskey Monday finds out that one of her pics was chosen as SL Pick of the Day. A friend tells her, not Linden Lab. Only thing, her Flickr photo was All Rights Reserved. Linden Lab discovers the issue from discourse on the Second Life blog, and changes its process by creating an “official” Linden Lab Flickr group to which members can submit photos, which then may be picked for SL Pick of the Day. This new group has a ToS that declares all submitted photos are essentially owned by LL. http://whiskeyshots.wordpress.com/2012/06/13/pic-of-the-day-changes/
