Details are starting to emerge about the 2015 Sci-Fi convention in Second Life, which is an event that is also part of the Relay For Life fundraising efforts in Second Life. The event will take place between February 20th to March 1st. The theme will take the build into Space.. yes the final frontier :

This could be interesting and challenging. The general theme is that of a future Sci-Fi resort but the organisers do explain that the theme is a guideline. Registrations for the event are live and information can be found here. The basics are :

Cruising the Exhibit booths is fun and exciting, but the real excitement at the Convention are the Events! Convention events are held throughout the day and night and cater to the many interests of our convention goers. This year, we are making it even easier for you to sponsor or run an event at the convention
However if displaying your wares in booths or running events isn’t for you, you can still get involved by nominating names for the sims at the convention :
To help people find their way around the Convention Grounds the sims carry both a color designation and Names, this year, as in the past we will be looking for you to help us name the sims! Last year the sims were named after notable authors of Science Fiction with Stracynski, Larson, Verne, Nowlan, Emmerich, and Whedon being honored. The 2015 Sim Naming theme will be:
Notable Planets, Places and Locations in Science Fiction, with bonus points going to places of leisure or Resorts!

The money we raise goes first to secure the land & any overage is given 100% in donations to the supported charity, it is essential that our group operates at a loss… even our contest cash prizes are often provided by private patrons, no single linden dollar is ever diverted from what the charity gets, that being the case we give NO REFUNDS!!!
This event is still quite few months away of course, even Sci-Fi conventions can’t get around the realities of space and time …. yet!
