Fantasy Faire 2020 – The Press Release

Fantasy Faire 2020 is set to open on April 23rd and is scheduled to run until May 10th.

This will be the 12th Fantasy Faire in Second Life and looks set to be as fun packed ever with a series of events, roleplaying, shopping experiences, DJ’s, live performances and a literary festival that features a guest appearance from author Fran Wilde.

Below the cut I will post a copy of the press release, but if you visit the official link you will be able to get hold of the promotional materials. As usual, if you’ve came directly to this post you won’t see the cut, so don’t go looking for one!

Xiola Changes Address

Word reached me on Twitter, via a whisper, or more a shout, nudge and slight kick from the good people at the Bay City Post, Xiola Linden is changing her address!

“Nooooooo” was my initial response, not Xiola, AKA Sansar Jenn, AKA the artist formerly known as Lexie and maybe known as Lexie in the future. Leaving the Lab? Xiola?

Confirmation of the news was confirmed in the latest edition of Lab Gab with Strawberry talking to a clearly emotional Xiola about changing address after eight glorious years at Linden Lab.

Linden Lab Introduce Tilia To a Confused Audience

Back in November 2015, Inara Pey blogged; Linden Lab and Tilia Inc. – Speculations On The Lab’s New Subsidiary. The long and short of this post was that Inara Pey and Vick Forcella had been speculating about a new subsidiary of Linden Lab, Tilia Inc.

Inara asked Linden Lab some questions and Peter Gray, who at the time was Linden Lab’s director of Global Communications, told Inara :

Tilia is a subsidiary of Linden Lab, focused on payments and the compliance work associated with operating virtual economies, and it will provide services for both Second Life and Project Sansar.

Inara’s post went into a little more speculation about the purpose of Tilia, but with notable exceptions such as Inara, most of us forgot all bout Tilia Inc. until yesterday, around three and a half years later, when Linden Lab blogged; Important Changes to your Second Life Account – Introducing Tilia.

Linden Lab’s introduction to Tilia, has, it’s fair to say, caused much confusion, a fair degree of bafflement and some disappointment, as this forum thread exemplifies.

Oz and April Linden Appear at Meet The Lindens

Oz Linden, Senior Director, Second Life Engineering and April Linden, Systems Engineering Manager, Operations, appeared at Meet The Lindens last night, with Saffia Widdershins asking some questions and moderator Patch Linden asking more by presenting questions from the audience.

This was an interesting discussion that included background on Oz and April and some very interesting and at times, personal, revelations as well as interesting discussion on technical issues, developments and processes at Linden Lab in terms of Second Life.

A couple of points of interest will have been with regards to the discussion about Second Life names, including the planned return of last names and the Environmental Enhancement Project, also known as EEP, which is at its heart an update to Windlight settings in Second Life.
