The 2015 H.P. Lovecraft Festival in Second Life<\/a> is scheduled to run from August 15th – 23rd. The event promises music, rides, events, a market full of vendors and a multi sim story quest in the shape and form of\u00a0The Heart of Llhao Story Quest<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Abandoned<\/a><\/p>\n

The adventure describes itself as :<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Lovecraft Festival is thrilled to present our multi-sim Lovecraftian Story Quest adventure \u2018The Heart of Llhao\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

You find yourself at the renowned Miskatonic University of Arkham, Massachusetts, where a recently discovered American Indian artifact, \u201cThe Heart of Llhao,\u201d was scheduled to be unveiled to the public. Tragically, the item has been stolen, and the university has become a crime scene investigation.<\/em><\/p>\n

Inspect the area, gather clues and items of interest, and follow the trail to find and recover this mysterious relic of tribal legend!<\/em><\/p>\n

This event is designed as an interactive \u201cwho-dun-it\u201d with a decidedly Lovecraft-inspired edge.<\/em><\/p>\n

In addition to the story and journey, there will be freebee items to collect along the way, and prizes to be awarded\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2026and, of course, a guaranteed finale to truly honor the spirit of H.P. Lovecraft\u2019s eerie, often horrific, endings!<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This sounds rather interesting. The festival also has an added charity angle as proceeds from the event will go to Autcom<\/a>, The National Autism Committee.<\/p>\n

\"HP<\/a><\/p>\n

The event is supported by a number of sponsors<\/a>, many of whom seem to be of a gothic persuasion, which should come as no surprise.<\/p>\n

\"Arkham<\/a><\/p>\n

The event is organised by\u00a0The HP Lovecraft Roleplay (and more) Group<\/a>\u00a0in Second Life\u00a0which was founded back in May 2012 by\u00a0Arik Metzger (arikthered) as a means for people to talk about all things Lovecraft in a virtual world.<\/p>\n

One of the main Lovecraft regions in Second Life is of course Innsmouth<\/a>, which has been faced with the threat of closure but is still very much on the grid today.<\/p>\n

\"Cthulhu!\"<\/a><\/p>\n

You can explore an abandoned New England coastal town in the shape and form of Innsmouth, ponder why the vehicles are empty and if you really want a sense of adventure, you can be attacked by tentacles or even get close to the legendary\u00a0Cthulhu!<\/p>\n

This is a very atmospheric region and is well worth a visit, even without a festival.<\/p>\n

Innsmouth<\/h1>\n

Why was this New England coastal town abandoned in the 1930s? Perhaps the giant sea-monster emerging from the south ocean might be the answer. Nevertheless, Innsmouth remains a dark, damp place with perpetual rain and ruined buildings well worth exploring.<\/p>\n
