This week’s Highlights from the Second Life Destination Guide<\/a> has some great locations but the one that stood out for me initially was the news that Transylvania Vampire Empire<\/a> is celebrating its eleventh birthday in Second Life.<\/p>\n

\nThe celebrations are already in full swing, as the Destination Guide explains :<\/a><\/p>\n

Give in to your dark side and enjoy a week of Gothic-themed events as part of Transylvania\u2019s eleventh birthday celebration. Transylvania is now one of the oldest communities in SL and features a thriving social scene where everyone is welcome. With live music, DJ\u2019s, stage performances, a gothic formal ball and red carpet parties, there is plenty to see. Runs August 7th to August 13th.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Eleven is quite an impressive feat and this community were taking a bite out of Second Life long before the term “Spampire<\/em>” was ever uttered.<\/p>\n

The region itself has plenty of shops as well as entertainment space. Whilst I was there I saw an advert for a Marilyn Manson tribute act. This is a place that has a gothic look and feel and plays its music hard by the looks of it.<\/p>\n

\"Cultural<\/a><\/p>\n

This is a wonderfully atmospheric region, the builds look quite modern, the community may well be eleven years old but the architecture isn’t. This is well worth a visit, even if you don’t want to endure love at first bite.<\/p>\n
