Hair Fair 2015 in Second Life opened yesterday and runs until July 26th. As well as being a showcase for hair designers in Second Life, the event also has a charitable side with a portion of all sales being donated to Wigs For Kids<\/a>, who help children who have suffered hair loss\u00a0:<\/p>\n

For over 30 years, Wigs for Kids has been providing Hair Replacement Systems and support for children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, Alopecia, Trichotillomania, burns and other medical issues at no cost to children or their families.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There are a couple of thank you letters from Wigs For Kids on the Hair Fair 2015 website, including one from 2012<\/a>, which thanks Second Life residents for raising over $10,000 for the cause.<\/p>\n

Now as this is a busy event you’re likely to want to take a look at the official Hair Fair 2015 website for information. The Hair Fair 2015 Store Slurls & Map Guide blog post<\/a> is an extremely useful resource because not only does it provide information about where the stores are, it also provides information regarding additional sims that will be available in the early days of the event.<\/p>\n

I had to teleport to one of the additional sims to take photos for this blog post because the main four sims of Blonde, Brunette, Redhead and Noirette were all full. Now being as it was 4am SLT when I tried to teleport to the regions, it suggests that the first few days are going to be extremely busy.<\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

The main regions consist of stores that look like shopping bags, all stores are of the same style. Whereas some may find this a little boring, this sort of design is done for a good reason. This means less textures being downloaded, which in turn means less lag, which in turn means you should have a more enjoyable experience.<\/p>\n

\"Bags<\/a><\/p>\n

Above the stores the shopping bags have quotes from famous people regarding fashion. That was a nice touch and there are some interesting quotes.<\/p>\n

As with all events, patience is key to enjoyment. Hair Fair is going to be busy and despite the best efforts of the designers, there may be times when you can’t get to where you want to get. The event runs until July 26th as I mentioned earlier, so there is plenty of time to get there, the short advice if you’re getting frustrated, keep your hair on!<\/p>\n

This is the 10th Annual Hair Fair, and all items sold at Hair Fair donate a minimum percentage of 15% to Wigs for Kids. Hairstyles are created new and exclusive for the duration of the event, with a minimum of three styles per store. You’ll find both styles for both men and women across all four sims.
