Inara Pey recently asked :\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/modemworld.wordpress.com\/2015\/05\/03\/is-sansar-the-name-of-the-labs-new-virtual-experiences-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\">Is SANSAR the name of the Lab\u2019s new virtual experiences platform?<\/a> The answer, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sluniverse.com\/php\/vb\/general-sl-discussion\/105977-project-sansar.html#post2119388\" target=\"_blank\">as an eagle eyed Marianne McCann noticed<\/a> is, pretty much yes.<\/p>\n<p>Rumours had been around for a while, as Inara Pey noted :<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>For the last several days, speculation has been circulating on whether the name SANSAR might be the name of the Lab\u2019s new next generation platform for virtual experiences.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Speculation first came via a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sluniverse.com\/php\/vb\/general-sl-discussion\/105605-business-insider-article-ll-sl.html#post2113769\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a> made to the SL Universe forums, and has since appeared on both the Profile feeds and <a href=\"https:\/\/community.secondlife.com\/t5\/General-Discussion-Forum\/Possible-name-for-SL2\/m-p\/2926726\" target=\"_blank\">forums<\/a>, relating to trademarks filed by the Lab on April 10th, 2015, namely:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><a href=\"http:\/\/tsdr.uspto.gov\/#caseNumber=86593254&amp;caseType=SERIAL_NO&amp;searchType=statusSearch\" target=\"_blank\">US Serial no 86593254 \u2013 for \u201cProject SANSAR\u201d<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"http:\/\/tsdr.uspto.gov\/#caseNumber=86593259&amp;caseType=SERIAL_NO&amp;searchType=statusSearch\" target=\"_blank\">US serial no 86593259 \u2013 for \u201cSANSAR\u201d<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>In addition, in October 2014, Ascio Technologies, Inc., filed a domain name registration for <a href=\"https:\/\/who.is\/whois\/projectsansar.com\" target=\"_blank\">projectsansar.com<\/a> listing Linden Research as the Domain Administrator.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now Linden Lab have revealed that this is indeed true, that the nextgen virtual world does indeed have a codename of Project Sansar.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>On Twitter, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LindenLab\/status\/595630008669995010\" target=\"_blank\">Linden Lab Tweeted<\/a> :<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It&#8217;s true: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ProjectSansar?src=hash\">#ProjectSansar<\/a> is the codename\/project name of our new virtual experience platform. Final name to be revealed in the future. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/VR?src=hash\">#VR<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Linden Lab (@LindenLab) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LindenLab\/status\/595630008669995010\">May 5, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>However, as this is just a codename, people should not get too bent out of shape. More importantly I wonder if this now means that Draxtor Despres can play more of his interviews with the Lindens now? They had to be edited when he visited the Lab because the project name was still a closely guarded secret.
