The Fairelands of Fantasy Faire 2015<\/a> will soon disappear as if by magic. All the events are over, the vendors have been packing up and we’ve all been going home. The event was of course part of the Relay For Life<\/a> fundraising effort in Second Life, for the American Cancer Society. In terms of that fundraising effort Fantasy Faire 2015 has so far raised\u00a0L$ 7,627,066, which amounts to a very impressive US$ 30,508. This is a record breaking effort so thank you to everyone who contributed to and promoted this fundraising.<\/p>\n

\"Trapped!\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The event overall saw a mixture of the weird and the wonderful. The old and the new. In terms of new events, both the literary festival and dance and particle shows have been hailed as a success and are likely to return for future Fantasy Faires if possible.<\/p>\n

\"LitFest<\/a><\/p>\n

A number of traditional events also took place. Roleplaying, which is of course an important element of Fantasy in Second Life was well represented at The Faire as three groups played out storylines, as explained by The Sunday Daily Recap<\/a> on the Fantasy Faire website :<\/p>\n

The roleplay groups have also concluded their storylines: NeoVictorians have safely traveled home, the Trial of Lut challenged the Sanctuary RP Community with a surprise ending and yesterday The Rickety Weasels finally managed to save Poppetsborough after freeing the Paper Wizard and returning light to the beloved popup book world.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On top of that there were more traditional themes such as DJ’s, live acts, Jail and Bail and Auctions.<\/p>\n

The auctions were again successful, particular the Live Auction which took place last night, again this is well explained by The Sunday Daily Recap :<\/p>\n

One of the very oldest and most amazing traditions within the Faire is the Live Auction where we sell off parts of the Fairelands for the Faire Folk to take home. After living in the Fairelands for eleven days, everyone wishes to keep at least one piece of their magic for the rest of the year. As always, bidding wars got almost out of hand and in the end earned 722,500 lindens straight into RFL kiosk on the stage. The highest seller was the Spires of Andolys build, which went for the jawdropping amount of 370,000 lindens.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Spires Of Andolys was created by\u00a0by Jaimy Hancroft\/Eowyn Swords and was home to The Sanctuary RP community during The Faire.<\/p>\n

\"Dwarfins<\/a><\/p>\n

The Spires Of Andolys was also home to me during The Faire as that’s where The Dwarfins were based.<\/p>\n

However now it’s time to head home and back to more Second Life and virtual world adventures, all I have is my memories :<\/p>\n

Alternatively Hamlet Au over at New World Notes noted :\u00a0Watch This Gorgeous Machinima Tour Through Second Life’s Fantasy Faire 2015<\/a>. This was related to a video published by ColeMarie Soleil, who also performed at Fantasy Faire. The video is short, at just over five minutes long, but manages to travel through the Fairelands in a very impressive manner.<\/p>\n
