Fantasy Faire 2015<\/a> will open its doors to everyone within the next hour or so but as well as being a magnificent example of fantasy related themes, creations, storytelling, art, poetry and much more in Second Life, it’s also part of the Relay For Life In Second Life<\/a> fundraising effort on behalf of The American Cancer Society.<\/p>\n

Last year’s event raised 5,955,893 Linden Dollars, that’s\u00a023,824 in US Dollars. So far this year, before the doors have even officially opened, the event has raised\u00a01,643,825 Linden Dollars, that’s\u00a0\u00a06,575 US Dollars.<\/p>\n

Fantasy Faire is of course far from being the only event in Second Life raising money for Relay For Life. The combined total for last year’s fundraising efforts reached a quite staggering $415,000, yes that’s US Dollars.<\/p>\n

The American Cancer Society have a region in Second Life where you can find a lot of information regarding the organisation, their aims, what they are doing and what is going on in Second Life with regards to Relay For Life.<\/p>\n

Fantasy Faire is always a fun event, it brings a lot of magic to Second Life. However it’s also important to remember the causes this event is raising money for, as there’s a chance of bringing a lot of magic to the people working hard for this charity too.<\/p>\n

Offering hope to sufferers of this often fatal disease, the ACS in Second Life offers education\/awareness programs and aims to unite survivors and caregivers. Residents can also visit Anatomica, which examines the key player in the body’s immune system: the white blood cell.<\/p>\n
