There seems to be an impression that Dwarfins<\/a> only spend time inside Second Life at taverns of a certain build, taverns that serve mead, taverns that welcome bar brawls or taverns that are frequented by female Dwarfins who will drink you under the table. This is a myth, sometimes Dwarfins step outside of their comfort zone and to exemplify this and tie in with Science Fiction being a theme in the Second Life news this week, I decided to head on down to The Vortex Club in Second Life to strut my funky stuff.<\/p>\n

\"Vortex<\/a><\/p>\n

The Vortex Club is one of Second Life’s oldest clubs and was opened on the\u00a03rd March 2006 by Kris Spade and Gemini Enfield. The current build has a distinct Loki Eliot<\/a> theme to it. There’s also a distinct Science Fiction theme to the build too,\u00a0with colourful displays and video screens prominent.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

Moving towards the entrance you can see the lights coming from inside, but your first step through the entrance is a bit of a false dawn.<\/p>\n

\"Vortex<\/a><\/p>\n

Once you step through you’re into an alleyway that definitely has a Blade Runner feel to it. However be wary of the weather conditions as it’s raining at one end of the street. I didn’t bring a brolly with me so I took a picture of the other end of the street. However the real entrance to The Vortex club is in the middle of the street.<\/p>\n

I was a bit miffed that the doorman didn’t ID me, it must be the beard! However once inside I turned on the music stream to be treated to some very funky tunes and I was soon running up that hill.<\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

The inside design is definitely eye catching and although on my visit, there were no DJ’s present, there are information boards around telling you when DJ’s will be present. There are dance balls around or you can click the Click To Dance signs, which have the advantage of a version for tinies too.<\/p>\n

\"Click<\/a><\/p>\n

However, due to Mesh avatars being present in Second Life, you may discover that although your avatar is small and perfectly formed, it’s not really a tiny avatar in this sense. I discovered this as I slipped through the dance floor. Clicking the larger Click To Dance sign allowed me to strut my funky stuff in a more appealing on the eye fashion.<\/p>\n

This club is very well designed and the building both internally and externally is eye catching. Whereas I didn’t find Mead, a mine or female Dwarfins, I did find that my dance moves are still top notch and that I certainly haven’t lost it!<\/p>\n
