The first sim was opened\u00a0on 29th April, 2006. There are now three sims joined together, Dublin, Dublin 2 and Dublin 3. The regions have gained attention outside of the virtual world environment,\u00a0<a title=\"Tourism Ireland On Parade\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tourismireland.com\/Home\/about-us\/press-releases\/2008\/TOURISM-IRELAND-HOSTS-WORLD%E2%80%99S-FIRST-VIRTUAL-ST-PAT.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0a St Patrick&#8217;s Day parade organised by Tourism Ireland back in 2008<\/a>\u00a0was held there and it&#8217;s not difficult to see why this would have been considered such a good location for that event.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Box Junction by Ciaran Laval, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ciaran_laval\/16011335952\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7514\/16011335952_580284bd98.jpg?resize=500%2C294&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Box Junction\" width=\"500\" height=\"294\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The theme of the Sim is of course based on Dublin In Ireland and they have attempted to recreate the look and feel of part of the city, mainly\u00a0O&#8217;Connell Street, Trinity College, St. Stephens Green, Guinness Brewery and Temple Bar area of Dublin including Grafton Street, Halfpenny Bridge, and Millenium Spire.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Looking Across Dublin 2 by Ciaran Laval, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ciaran_laval\/16010084971\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7538\/16010084971_aaf0b49f56.jpg?resize=500%2C294&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Looking Across Dublin 2\" width=\"500\" height=\"294\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Mayor of Dublin in Second Life is also the owner,\u00a0Ham Rambler. The impressive recreation of Dublin has led to many Dubliners who have visited the sim saying\u00a0&#8220;<em>it&#8217;s just like being there!<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Edge Of Dublin 2 by Ciaran Laval, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ciaran_laval\/15389771224\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7476\/15389771224_e32b382a75.jpg?resize=500%2C294&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Edge Of Dublin 2\" width=\"500\" height=\"294\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first expansion to Dublin came in the shape and form of Dublin 2 Shamrogue Island. However if you do get tired, you can take a rest in a park.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Grafton Street by Ciaran Laval, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ciaran_laval\/15826281547\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7505\/15826281547_351e364353.jpg?resize=500%2C294&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Grafton Street\" width=\"500\" height=\"294\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Grafton Street in Dublin makes an appearance and here you also get the feeling that there&#8217;s a commercial side to the sims as shops are rented out here. Inded there are plenty of merchants selling their wares here.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Blarney Stone by Ciaran Laval, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ciaran_laval\/15818789760\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7461\/15818789760_019ac42940.jpg?resize=500%2C294&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Blarney Stone\" width=\"500\" height=\"294\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are also a number of events here including live music and DJ&#8217;s. The main entertainment locations appear to be bar based with The Blarney Stone Irish Bar, The Try Line Sports Bar and \u00a0Fibber Magees Nightclub offering entertainment to visitors.<\/p>\n<p>Actually I&#8217;ve been here before for an event, all the way back in 2009, Robin Linden&#8217;s leaving do was held in this area.
