The SL11B robot avatar gives one he opportunity to visit many Second Life locations and fit in with the scenery. Whereas you may not be awesome on the dance floor, unless you engage in some robotics of course, there are a whole host of suitable robot friendly locations. This is where The Destination Guide<\/a> comes in really handy.<\/p>\n

I decided to start somewhere post apocalyptic and headed for The Wastelands.<\/p>\n

The Wastelands<\/h1>\n

Tired of pristine beaches and shiny, prefab homes? Set your heart on a boggy lot of abandoned, ramshackle-looking land? Check out The Wastelands, one of SL’s oldest and largest post-apocalyptic themed residential estate parcels.<\/p>\n

If I had hairs on the back of my neck they would most definitely be standing up as I explored the wasted land. Vehicles, graffitis, satellites and a feeling that at any minute I could be attacked. Fortunately being a robot means I can sense people and danger. Unfortunately being a robot means I can’t hurt humans so when a couple approached I had to duck for cover.<\/p>\n

I could not hear what was being said, but I could see that the woman was armed, with a big gun that this photo does not quite portray, but trust me, she had a big gun.<\/p>\n

At this point self preservation kicks in and I decided it may be time to depart before I find myself in trouble. Checking available destinations I decide I should head somewhere a little more robot friendly.<\/p>\n

I bravely headed to Insilico, a science fiction destination and one full of technology … and shops!<\/p>\n

InSilico<\/h1>\n

The future is leaking backward in the form of InSilico, a high-end cyberpunk role playing sim in Second Life.<\/p>\n

Obviously I felt right at home here, maybe a little too much at home. The location means that nobody is going to bat an eyelid as I walk by, but it also means that my sensors are working on overtime as I sense sensors sensing me. This gets more than a tad troubling and I have a horrible feeling that I may be about to meet my maker as I try to decode the displays.<\/p>\n

\"Robot<\/a><\/p>\n

I come to the horrible realisation that this is exactly the sort of destination that could spell the end of my journey, people may want parts, they may want to experiment, I need to head out of here and find somewhere a bit more serene, even if it means going somewhere that may not be exactly robot themed. I head for Fotoscope Island.<\/p>\n

Fotoscope Island<\/h1>\n

Fotoscope Island is dedicated to photography, fun, friendship and romance! Ride the Freefall and enjoy eight minutes of a space ride packed with animations and audio-visual special effects. Fotoscope also has quite a few of other interactive experiences. Dance and cuddle in a wide variety of beautiful spots and hidden locations. Just be sure to take lots of photos, huh?<\/p>\n

Here I find peace and calm. I’m not sure how much peace and calm I’d find if someone else was around, after all this isn’t the sort of spot where one would expect to see a robot. There are rivers, waterfalls, ruins, homes. This is a land that isn’t quite ready for me in terms of evolution, but it is oh so peaceful and extremely photogenic.<\/p>\n

I decide that I’ll stay here for a little while, I may need to hid under the cover of the wildlife, but I don’t get the feeling that I’ll meet my maker or big guns here, it’s time to rest, study the maps and plot more travelling at a future date.<\/p>\n
