Controversy continues to surround Stroker Serpentine’s full perm release of his Sexgen V5. There are certainly grey areas when it comes to intellecutal property rights, with three other creators involved, Corsi Mousehold, Briggi Bard and Craig Altman.<\/p>\n

Craig Altman has commented over at SLUniverse<\/a> that he has not granted permission for his animations to be released full perms:<\/p>\n

“The animations in this item of mine are being used against license, I have no agreement with Stroker for them to be given out in copy and transfer perms.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

Corsi Mousehold talked to The Alphaville Herald<\/a> the other day and suggested his animations shouldn’t be part of the package:<\/p>\n

“I could DMCA but in SL things can spread like wildfire. I would have to DMCA every single person I find that is giving it away. That’s a nightmare.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

Which leaves Briggi Bard, I don’t even know if Briggi is still in Second Life. The other animations are made by Stroker. My view here is that it’s best not to use anything that doesn’t have Stroker’s name as a creator, that is if the item doesn’t get deleted from your inventory anyway, a thread on the official forums on the subject has been nuked.<\/p>\n

Then there’s the issue of someone over the weekend handing out the item but with the addition of some copybotted items, I received an offline that someone had offered me the full perm sexgen V5 over the weekend, others have said it contains copybotted items, maybe an attempt to get the original taken out of inventories, but it has all got very murky:<\/p>\n

“BuffaloBleu has offered you ‘SexGen Ultra Base v5 (FULL PERM)’ in Second Life. Log in to accept or decline the offer.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

When it comes to subjects like this, it’s always best to err on the side of caution, some people mean well when they hand out gifts, they are at times not even aware items are copybotted, however people end up learning the hard way if items are copybotted in freebie packages.<\/p>\n

There are times when it’s best to look a gift horse in the mouth, this seems to be one of those times, tread carefully people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
