One Last Friendly Snowball Battle At Winter Wonderland

On the newly revamped, rather funky Second Life community website Xiola Linden has posted a blog : One Last Friendly Battle Before the Snow Melts! This involves a trip to Winter Wonderland in Second Life, which is coming to the end of its seasonal run.

Xiola throws down the gauntlet for the snowball battle scheduled for tomorrow, Friday March 17th between 9am-10am SLT and a further skirmish between 13:00 – 14:00 SLT:

Join us this Friday, March 17th from 9:00 to 10:00 AM SLT and 1:00 to 2:00 PM SLT – to enjoy the thrill of the chill and the fun of pummelling one another with tons of virtual snowballs!

Lindens and Residents run amok through the icy castle towers and tunnels, the sky pours snowballs, and the good times roll!

To join in the fun you will need to make your way to Portal Park.

Portal Park is the hub from which many Linden created destinations can be reached, so even if you’re not interested in the snowball fight, you may find something else of interest there.

Snow Wars Episode I’ve Lost Count – The Snowball Awakens

A long time ago in a virtual world far, far away ……

Linden Lab have announced the date and the time of the annual Linden & Resident Snowball Fight. The date and time for those who may not be paying as close attention as they should is Monday December 21st at 10am SLT.

The blog post bills this as :

Come one – come all to the Snowball Arena for a friendly ice battle of epic proportions! We’re bringing back the Official Snowball Showdown – where you’re free to pelt your fellow Second Life Residents and Lindens with a bevy of sparkling snowballs!

These battles can indeed be epic.

Do not fear if you think you will be walking into a trap, there’s no need to be unarmed and not very dangerous because there is free weaponry available from the vendors in Winter Wonderland.

Dispatches From The Snowball Warzone – A Snowball Fight With The Lindens

They came from all corners of Second Life, the young, the old, the weak and Strawberry Singh! They split into teams, some residents backing The Lindens. Xiola Linden purred and recruited.

Uccello Poultry not far from her side aiding the recruitment drive.

Meanwhile Vitae Linden was aided and abetted by Pygar Bu as they prepared for battle.

The Lindens were out in force and looking very menacing, big guns and little guns were on display.

Dwarfin In A Winter Wonderland & Getting Ready For A Snowball Fight With The Lindens

Linden Lab’s latest venture in providing attractions for Second Life residents comes in the shape and form of a Winter Wonderland that offers snowy views, ice skating, gifts, a ferris wheel, a snowmobile and most importantly of all, a snowball fight arena which you may want to get yourself along to in order to practice before tomorrow’s snowball fight with The Lindens!

Oh I should also mention there’s photo contest. Linden Lab blogged this information yesterday : Join a Snowball Fight with Lindens & Enter Our Photo Booth Fun Contest. Budding Second Life photographers may want to know that the contest offers the opportunity to win L$10,000 :

Share your silly photo booth style pictures with us for a chance to win L$10,000, L$5,000, L$3,000, or L$1,000 for your snapshot! Props encouraged! Winners will be selected by a panel consisting of both Lindens and Residents.

I didn’t even know Second Life had a Pinterest page! Now when it comes to a photo contest in Second Life my first port of call would be to beg Strawberry Singh for assitance, however I can see she’s way ahead of me and off gallivanting around with Xiola Linden already!

As for the rules of the contest, there’s a twisty turny path to find them but if you can’t find them, here’s a shortcut. The contest has a deadline of March 4th, so there’s plenty of time to enter, or beg Strawberry Singh for assistance. Here’s the gist of it :

1. DURATION. The Contest begins at 10:00am PST February 4, 2015 (the “Start Date”) and ends on 10:00am PST March 4, 2015 (the “Deadline”).

2. ENTRY. Participants must have active Second Life® accounts prior to their participation in the Contest.

The Contest is looking for images of Second Life avatars in a Photo Booth type scenario (actual booth not necessary)(the “Photo Booth Fun”). Solo and group images are welcome, and silly costume props are encouraged. To create an entry, entrants must:

Log on to your Second Life® account between the Start Date and Deadline.
Take a Photo Booth Fun snapshot.
Access the Contest landing page located at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Photo-Booth-Fun-Contest/con-p/Photo_Booth_Fun_Contest and log in to the Second Life community forum with your Second Life account.
Upload and submit your snapshot between the Start Date and Deadline.

Oh and the photo must be General rated but please read the rules in full before entering. However if a photo contest isn’t for you, how about that snowball fight with The Lindens?
