Fantasy Faire 2013 – The Quest For The Golden Prim Relaunches Tomorrow With A Party!

The Explorer’s Club building at Fantasy Faire 2013 continues to be an area of mystery and I’ve received more information over the last few days. First of all another note was slipped under the door of my room:

We’ve received grave news from Steelhead. Remember we told you about the Questers that you might encounter around the Faire? You can spot them because of by their special titles – they’ll have the sign of the Quest for the Golden Prim (sometimes shortened to QGP) and their character name.

But apparently, some of them are concealing dark secrets – three of their number are dangerous fugitives!

News just in from Steelhead informs us that Questers known as Dr Wirefly, Professor McMinn and Miss Primm are wanted in connection with the murder of a citizen of Steelhead.  They were apprehended in Steelhead but escaped by drugging the Sheriff and his trusty deputies.

These people are highly dangerous – if encountered, they should be reported to the Sheriffs of the Faireland.,  We are asking Fairgoers not to risk danger by approaching them directly.  If you see any other Questers, however, we believe you may still safely approach them and request information (and gifts).

This news disturbed me greatly, but being an adventurer I couldn’t turn away, I just had to go back to the explorer’s club to see what was going on. I arrived there in good spirits, treading rather cautiously and outside the building I met a strange lady, she made me nervous, she took me in and gave me breakfast and I said “Do you come from a land down under? Where women glow and men plunder.

No.” she replied, rather suspiciously, “I come from The Steamlands.

Well it could have been worse, she could have smiled and made me a vegemite sandwich.

Fantasy Faire 2013 – The Key Of Hope Hunt

Now if you’re not too busy this weekend, The Key Of Hope Hunt is still running and as we all know, hunts are fun ….. oh come on, they are! Anyway you will need a hud to play and this will cost you L$100 but the purchase is from a Relay For Life Vendor and therefore is part of the fund raising efforts.

The hunt comes in two parts, the first takes place in the Fairelands and as they are part of Fantasy Faire, you may need to get your boots on to complete it. The the second part, which runs until May 19th, is a collaboration with Madpea Productions.

Below is a narration of the prologue, and a mighty fine prologue it is too. However, if you would rather read the prologue, the text is below the YouTube clip, or you could read the text whilst listening to the youTube clip. At the end of the post I’ll also include the link on how to play the hunt.

Key of Hope ~ Prologue

For a thousand years and more, the demon prince Val’baan ruled over the land with fear. Then, a child was born who would grow to be his nemesis. This had happened before, but Val’baan was possessed of enough brains to maintain an intelligence network that alerted him to possible threats before they were too great to crush. This time, however, the girl was raised in secret by people ready for the time, and when she grew to womanhood the demon’s fate was inevitable. A quest, a battle, an overcoming followed, and the sun rose over the world once more. Kiana and her companions fought for three days to drive Val’baan first back into the valley, then to the temple which had been the seat of Val’baan’s power – his final redoubt. Two hundred men and women began that fight, ninety reached the entrance to the valley and only eight were alive to see Val’baan trapped as Kiana read from the scroll and completed the ritual of binding. Each of these took their place at one of the eight outer seals, with Kiana herself bringing them together in the centre. The heroes’ strength was thus combined to forge a lock that could never be opened again, from within or without.

 However…

Fantasy Faire 2013 – Thank You Fantasy Faire From American Cancer Society

Fantasy Faire is still running, but a group notice has been sent with a thank you letter from The American Cancer Society, details below.

Faireland Relayers,

While I watch the tremendous success of the Fantasy Faire, I feel compelled to write a personal note of congratulations and thank you to the people who organize this wonderful event every year. Since Fantasy Faire began, you all have worked to raise almost $100,000 USD for the American Cancer Society and you should be proud of your efforts.

I, and the American Cancer Society appreciate everyone who has donated their time, talent, and Lindens throughout all the years, and this year is no exception. This year, I have seen some of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen in Second Life. I have heard from countless others who share the same sense of wonder and amazement. In fact, I can quote one friend who said, “I’ve never seen anything like this in Second Life.” And that’s from someone who is in Second Life every day, and has been for many years.

Fantasy Faire 2013 – I Think I Was Kidnapped By Elves!

Fantasy Faire 2013 is held in a land far away and as a blogger for the event, Dwarfins boss Dwarfins Judy has kindly allowed me to take up accomodation at the Dwarfins Store, which also happens to be the home of the Flaming Tankard Inn. On Tuesday night, I had some some strange experiences there, which meant I was out of action all day Wednesday!

Things started reasonably well, I returned to the accomodation after a hard working day.

Dwarfins Building

Once inside I noticed The Dwarfins staff hard at work, meeting and greeting people.

On duty at the time was Olga Rockbeard.

Thorrak Rockbeard was also on duty.

They introduced me to an acquaintance in the shape and form of Fio’O Krolmskull Bethune.

At this stage nothing untoward had happened. I merrily chatted away and then decided to relax in the Flaming Tankard.

Fio : “Who is that?

Olga : “He’s some sort of reporter, Judy said we need to look after him.”

Thorrak nodded agreement “Fio, keep an eye on him in there, Judy said we’re not to let him get drunk.

I stepped into the inn.

Fantasy Faire 2013 – News Regarding The Quest For The Golden Prim

I awoke this morning at Fantasy Faire 2013 to find that someone had slipped an envelope under my door, there was no writing on the envelope, so I opened it and read the note inside:

It seems that the Faire this year has been joined by a group of intrepid explorers who are seeking a mysterious artefact known as “The Golden Prim”. Whether they expect to find it here in the Fairelands, or whether they are here for some other reason remains to be seen.

They seem to be based at the Explorers’ Club (Oriental Branch) in Lotus Valley Dream – you can learn more of their adventures there – and discover some secrets too, it is believed.

If you encounter one of them at the Faire, they’ll be happy to talk to you – and they’’ll also have things to give you too …

So look out for the Questers – and join their adventure.

Usually I would consult with my Chief Elf on such matters but she is elsewhere in the Fairelands, I decided to go to this Lotus Valley Dream location and take another look at the Explorers club.

Lotus Valley Dream Sim

This was also useful as despite my lodgings having a very comfortable bed, The Explorers club is the home of the only wash room in the Fairelands!

On approaching the explorers club I noticed a lady and a gentleman stood outside:

Elric Martin and Martini Discovolante
