Does your heart go boom
I blame Torley Linden. I really do. There I was innocently minding my own business when I read that Torley had upgraded wordpress.
Against my better judgement I decided to upgrade… and that’s where things went tits up. There was talk of a missing table, the database upgraded but this table wasn’t there. So alas it all went poofy.
Ok it’s not Torley’s fault that I didn’t backup my database, but that’s not the point! Well maybe it is but still. It’s all gone, my Robin Linden fetish, my VAT rants, my ID verfication rants. All gone. It’s a sad sad day. Well it would be if it wasn’t Friday night and I wasn’t suffering PMT (Pre match tension) prior to Sunday’s Birmingham derby when Villa will kick the butts of the web fingered weirdoes from the other side of the city. Now if Villa lose, that will be a sad sad sad sad day, especially as I’ll be watching the game in a pub full of the great unwashed.
Which brings me to the point, why can’t I watch Premiership football in SL?
I’m sure there are good reasons, people pay a lot of money for the rights to show premiership football but you can watch highlights on some websites. So why don’t those companies come to SL, setup a bar, and allow us to watch the game. Even better TV shows too. I wanted to see all the fuss about CSI but CBS barred me from viewing the episode. Of course there are ways around bars but I decided to play nicely.
Maybe SL can’t handle the load, although some of this stuff is available on quicktime. Maybe SL don’t want to handle the load, although I think Robin suggested a sports deal could be on the cards at her last office hour. I saw I think because there are so many conversations going on there at one time that you’re not always sure which person Robin is answering.
On Fridays I usually slip into another virtual world (AKA The Pub). So I’ll bid you a fond farewell, I at least still have the memories of my whinefest posts and they’ll be back soon when LL roll out ID verification!
