Fantasy Faire 2013 Pencilled In For April 20th – 28th

View From Bridge

I’ve had no official information regarding Fantasy Faire 2013, although Fantasy Faire 2012 was a great event. I’ve been getting more and more worried by the day that there is not going to be a Fantasy Faire 2013.

However as I’m an evil Drow Wizard, breeder of Dwarfins, owner of protest gnomes, have a chief Elf and army of minions, I have been able tov(via dubious and not at all dubious means) get the skinny on the lowdown.

Fantasy Faire 2013 is pencilled in for April 20th – April 28th, registrations should be opening in early March. We’ll all have to wait for more official information before getting all excited…. now that’s not going to work, I’m excited already!

2012 Reviewed – April To June

April

The teething problems with Direct Delivery meant that initial migration deadlines for getting rid of magic boxes had to be pushed back, there is still no definite date for migration.

Pathfinding started to get rolled out for testing and I volunteered a sim for the tests. I experimented with some patrolling prim cubes, unfortunately I haven’t got much further!

Fantasy Faire 2012

Fantasy Faire 2012 ran from April 21 – 30th, it was extended by one day, I took a look at a few stores.

Inara Pey reported that Linden Lab had obtained the rights to sublicense Havok. Linden Lab produced a page on the Wiki for this. The result was that TPV’s had to abide by LL’s agreement to obtain the sublicense, which is perfectly fair.

After their call to bloggers earlier in the year, Linden Lab made a more quiet call to specific artists regarding images for their website. Strawberry Singh being one of those asked to produce work for Linden Lab. This created a small ripple of damned if you do or damned if you don’t when there was some criticism of the nature of this call for assistance not being open to all. However the results were widely greeted in a positive light.

Third Second Life Science Fiction Faire Is Open

scifi3

I’m not big on the Science Fiction scene in Second Life, indeed most of what I read is to do with copyright issues, such as Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek. However there is a thriving roleplaying scene for Science Fiction in Second Life and to exemplify this, we have the third Science Fiction Faire, which is open now. Like some of the other and arguably better known faires in Second Life, the Science Fiction faire is also a charity event, associated with the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life. The region being used for the faire actually neighbours the ACS main Island.
