World’s Collide As Virtual World Resident Takes To The Stage

So a man walks into a bar, he drinks a couple of pints and then along comes the singer, her name isn’t Pearl and she’s not standing up to play the piano, although her job is entertaining folks. Now there’s something familiar about this singer, but he can’t quite figure out what until he hits a Kevin Bacon moment and he realises this singer is Lady Sakai’s mate!

Now fortunately it’s way too early in the night for alcohol to be giving the impression that a Second Life avatar is on stage. However there is concern that a paradox may be caused in the lines of time, space and virtuality that could cause one world or another to implode.

He glances to the stage where the computer running the backing tracks has broken, uh oh, is it all going to go tits up here in the bar and I’m not even drunk yet!

Real Life hits Second Life AGAIN – Joplin, Missouri

This past year it seems we have been hit with so many natural disasters.  We have been asked time and time again to reach into our pockets and GIVE.  To the point that we want to cry and say STOP.  Well, I wish that were the case here and now……but it is not.  I am asking again

As most of you know who read this blog, SL Home and Garden Expo ended the weekend before last. During the time of the expo, I had the opportunity to work closely with, and to get to know this amazing person. A person who gives so much of herself that at the end of the day she literally falls into bed exhausted.  Who works almost year round to successfully raise funds for RFL.  Such is her belief in what she does. Not only does SHE do this, her son walks in her footsteps. So let me introduce you to Nikki Mathieson, oh yes and you may remember (or not) an interview I did with her son Damian Carbenell a few months ago.

In 2009, the surrounding Metropolitan Statistical Area had an estimated population of 174,300.

On May 22, 2011, Joplin was struck by an extremely powerful EF-5 tornado, resulting in at least 142 deaths and more than 900 injuries, along with major damage to numerous houses and businesses, St. John’s Medical Center, and multiple school buildings. PASSION WON’T LET YOU QUIT – Damian Carbenell

Damian and Jez

PASSION WONT LET YOU QUIT.

If you have a passion for something, you get a 50 dollar guitar at a pawn shop, whatever it takes.

Damian Carbenell

Passion, passionate – these words define Damian Carbenell, the man and his music.

Damian Carbenell is a young man who has been passionate about his song, his music, his life since before he can remember.  At the ripe age of, well, forever, it was his uncle, who was in an 80’s hair band, who was fun, childish in nature, big into music, who introduced Damian to what has become his way of life. Damian at Sweet Whispers

Damian doesn’t remember a time when he wasn’t singing. He was beating on pots and pans by 5. When he was in the 1st grade he entered a school talent show. He was the youngest one there, and second to last to perform.  With his grandfather playing guitar, Damian sang “Let there be peace on Earth“. He sang to a packed audience, but when he was finished there was not a sound made.  At first he thought no one liked it, he couldn’t understand why everyone was so quiet.  He didn’t understand that at the time we were at war (Desert Storm) and there were tears in the eyes of his audience.  Damian had chosen THAT song because it was a song he sang in church.  It was THAT night; he said he felt that the fates came together.  THAT night was the night the fire was lit…..his passion….his direction.

By the 4th grade, in a red leather jacket with zippers all over, penny loafers, and black pants he sang his heart out to MJ’s “Beat It” choreographed with his 3 back up dancers…his music was evolving. Continue reading “PASSION WON’T LET YOU QUIT – Damian Carbenell”
