Fantasy Faire 2011 Update and Pics

I blame Torley for this …I’m getting into taking photos in Second Life and enjoying it too much, even if the results aren’t great, it’s fun and a great way to record happenings in Second Life. Fantasy Faire 2011 is into day seven now, but day six saw L$510,804 raised bringing the total amount raised to more than USD$14,700.

Milestones from this year’s Fantasy Faire include:

  • More money raised by day three this year than for the whole of Fantasy Faire 2010.
  • By day six the total for all of last year’s relay season had been broken in terms of the Fantasy Faire team!

The aim this year is to raise USD$20,000 overall and it’s looking like a wonderful effort by all so far.

Today I visited The Forest of Shadow and Nemo Revisited sims, outside the Satyr Moon store, you find, not unsurprisingly, Satyrs.

On this sim you also find the very impressive House of Rfyre, I’ve always liked the look of their items and the display at Fantasy Faire 2011 is no letdown.

Then it was off to Nemo Revisited and there’s a lot of eye candy here, so let’s start with Neptune himself, fundraising for Relay For Life despite looking like he’s about to attack someone with his giant fork.

If you want to escape him you may want to take to the skies and fortunately there are a couple of modes of transport, one is a balloon:

The other a flying horse, although this one is just a statue unfortunately … I think, I didn’t try and ride it.

The sim itself is rather spectacular and pulls off that Steampunk theme extremely well.

The Xcentricity Store highlights this well but there are plenty of cycles, wheels and cogs rotating around to keep one occupied.

Some stores deal with Steampunk furniture and it’s easy to see why Steampunk was a clever theme for people to bring into Second Life.

Even the floor of the sim exemplifies the Steampunk feel, I myself have not really got into steampunk, but I can see why it’s appealing. I also have to say that I haven’t found any sort of submarine type vehicles on the sim yet, so I didn’t manage to make my way to twenty thousand leagues under the sea!
