SL12B – Get Ready For The Linden Lab Sponsored Music Fest

Diamonique Viper

Sl12B is like previous Second Life birthday events full of great entertainment, you can keep an eye on all the events on the performance schedule. This year there’s an added bonus in the shape and form of Music Fest, which has been sponsored by Linden Lab.

Xiola Linden has posted details of the two day event, in a blog post : Rock Out at the SL12B Official Music Fest!

Over two days, we’ll feature an amazing line-up of those artists, across many genres of music, and we hope you will come join us. It’s all the fun of a music festival without the over exposure to the sun, the grueling sludge through the mud, or the long haul and long lines of those questionable public bathrooms. It’s a bring your own refreshments and get ready to dance your pixels off kind of event – check out who’s playing, then grab your ride to the festival below.

Many thanks to Doctor Gascoigne and his team of volunteers for helping finalize the details with all our performers!

The event will take place on Friday 26th June and Saturday 27th June.

Music Fest will take place on the Ixtlan Stage, which has been built by long time and well known Second Life content creator, Cube Republic.

Saturday’s line up looks like this ;

Saturday June 27th, 2015

  • 8-8:30 PM – Mavenn Resident
  • 8:30 – 9 PM – Oblee
  • 9 – 9:30 PM – Collin Martin
  • 9:30 – 10 PM – Taunter Goodnight
  • 10 – 10:30 PM – Donn DeVore
  • 10:30 – 11 PM – Zak Claxton
  • 11 – 11:30 PM – LuvofMusic
  • 11:30 – Midnight – Ren Enberg & Quai Franklin

That’s another four hours of entertainment but please take note of the fact that Friday’s performances are largely AM whereas Saturday’s performances are PM. A twenty four hour clock would really help here guys!

Party People

Friday is likely to be more suitable for Europeans as the performances take place on Friday evening, whereas Saturday will probably appeal more to USA residents, as it will be Sunday morning in Europe when that all kicks off. However that’s a fair trade as it suits people in different timezones.

Back in May Linden Lab had blogged : Sign up to Audition for the Second Life Music Fest in Celebration of Second Life’s 12th Anniversary!

Second Life is turning 12 this June, and we’re planning a few extra special ways to help commemorate a dozen amazing years with our Residents! You’ll have to stay tuned to this blog and our social media pages for all the exciting things as they roll out, but today we’re announcing auditions for … (drum roll, please) … the Second Life Music Fest – sponsored by Linden Lab – a two day music-extravaganza inworld to celebrate!

Second Life is full of talented musicians, and we’re hoping to draw out all you guitarists, bassists, drummers, singers, tambourine shakers and other music makers to come audition for the festival. All genres are welcome!

The Second Life Music Fest is an opportunity to perform at one of the biggest celebrations in Second Life, and it’s a paid gig!

The auditions are long over, but Linden Lab have taken a more hands off approach to Second Life birthday celebrations in the last few years, so it’s really good to see Linden Lab not only being more involved, but actually sponsoring this event as well as paying artists.

More Party People

This seems to be part of a larger drive by Linden Lab to promote music within Second Life. I’ve noticed recently that some adverts for Second Life are promoting music, which is a sensible move and arguably long overdue.

I hope Music Fest is a success, it’s the sort of event Second Life should be known for.
