A Humble Mystery Unfolds

Sighted inworld less often than Magellan Linden in the past twelve months, there have been concerns about the well being of Linden Lab CEO Rod Humble. Had he been kidnapped? Had he been turned into a High Fidelity Voxel? Did he have clowns to the left of him, jokers to the right and was stuck in the middle with you? The search for Rod Humble has been well and truly on.

When you need to find out some information about goings on in Second Life, sometimes you have to go to dark corners, corners filled with fog, hansom carriages, dens of iniquity, places where you have to wave a purse full of gold coins around to get information and being a fearless fighter for truth and justice I have done all of this to try and uncover more about the mystery of the hidden Humble …. and then I turned to Twitter! (dramatic music plays). I’m scarred by it all but I have heard some whispers!

I’m reliably informed that an avatar in an Aston Villa shirt who isn’t Prad Prathivi or me has been known to be roaming inworld. The word on the streets of Bay City is that he has been spotted in Bay City!

Rodvik in Bay City!

Thanks to Daniel Voyager for the snapshot.

There’s also talk that he has time travelled to 1920’s Berlin and allegedly been interviewed by a Barbarian … I mean Bavarian called Drax. However the details of the interview are sketchy, it has been leaked by Frau Yardley that Rod Humble uses alts …. wait, so do I! However this begs the question, who are Rod Humble’s alts?

The smart money is on it being Inara Pey, smart, witty, doubles as Delicia Whipsnaps, based in the UK, top of the Second Life blogs and with an uncanny knack of knowing things. However as I’ve never seen her in a Toga or a Villa shirt, I think she’s an act of deception.

There have been suggestions that it could be Hamlet Au of New World Notes but as he seems to be enjoying himself way too much in China, I think we can rule that one out.

I ruled out Draxtor Despres as a possibe alt of Rod Humble when he seemed blissfully unaware of who won the European Cup in 1982.

Will we ever find out the truth? Well probably not and people do deserve time to explore as alts, but could it be……

Second Lie at Twitter Party

Surely not! He would have got away with it if it wasn’t for us pesky kids! Stay tuned to find out more  ….. well until Drax messages me with the interview link anyway!

  1. The serious bit:

That Lab employees use alts isn’t a surprise. What is a surprise is that people seem to forget that they can when complaining “LL staff never come in-world”.

As Rod comments about his use of alts in the forthcoming video, “Each one of those personas allows you to engage with the community in a way that you can’t when everybody knows it’s Rod Humble.”

    The non-serious bit….

Why would I be Rod Humble’s alt? After all, feminine wiles do achieve so much in life – so whay not Second Life? :D. As to beaing an act of deception … are you saying I’m a double-double agent, or something else? Hmmmmm?

    1. Using alts is a very sensible thing to do, the only controversial aspect I’ve seen with that in the past is suggestions it has been used to gain advantage in business, although i’ve never seen any evidence of that happening.

I’ve seen the video, it’s very good, look forward to it being officially released.
