Tyche Shepherd’s Private Estate Survey For April 2013

Tyche “Statto” Shepherd has some really interesting reports going around right now and I think I’m going to have to poke her about using some of them, but the results of her private estate survey for April are in. As usual I won’t report all the findings, you can find them in the link. There isn’t anything eye catching in terms of changes in land holdings this month, the grid has shrunk and at a faster rate than in March but one interesting point to note is the change in class of Servers, there has been a leap, a rather significant one, in class 8 hardware.

Now remember this is a survey, not a census, so there are margins of error.

The key points I will highlight for this survey are:

  • Private Regions down 158 regions (0.8% since last month)
  • Total private regions now stand at 20,324
  • Estimated monthly tier income – US$4,091,000 +/- US$51,000 (Down around $45,000 or 1.1% on last month).
  • Top 20 landowners own 38.3% of private regions (Up 0.8% on last month).
  • Top 20 landowners pay 30.7% of private region tier (Up 0.4% on last month).

Nothing earth shattering in these figures, although the decline in private regions was higher during April at 0.8%, when compare to March where it was 0.3%.

Whereas the top 20 landowners holdings are up slightly, the Top 10 are down slightly, very slightly at 0.1%.

The Top 10 Estates by number of regions held are as follows:

  • RGF Estates Inc 4.9%
  • Azure Islands 3.4%
  • Zoha Islands 3.3%
  • Dreamseeker Estates 2.8%
  • Weezles Real Estate (WRE) 2.6%
  • Victoria Chung 2.3%
  • Jessica Chung 2.1%
  • Miriam Chung 2.1%
  • Fruit Islands Estate 1.9%
  • Lala Rentals 1.8%

Now for the interesting part, to me at least. In March’s Survey Tyche reported server class as:

  • Class 503 – 13.2%
  • Class 701 – 38.0%
  • Class 703 24.6%
  • Class 801 24.0%

This survey sees some, positive, I would imagine, changes:

  • Class 503 – 12.9% (-0.3% since March)
  • Class 701 – 29.7% (-8.3% since March)
  • Class 703 – 15.3% (-9.3% since March)
  • Class 801 –  42.1% (+18.1% since March)

Class 801 is now the most popular class for private regions, for the first time ever, but the two class 7 groupings combined outnumber class 8. So where are these new class of servers coming from? Are mainland getting the old classes? Well no, it seems not, if we take a look at the results of Tyche’s weekly survey immediately after reporting the March Private Estate Survey we see a breakdown of mainland (Linden) and estate classes:

  • Estate – Class 5: 3,511
  • Estate – Class 7: 12,380
  • Estate – Class 8: 3,755
  • Estate – Class Unknown: 820
  • Linden – Class 5: 1,386
  • Linden – Class 7: 2,402
  • Linden – Class 8: 3,080
  • Linden – Class Unknown: 220

Now if we take a look at Tyche’s latest weekly report, we see:

  • Estate – Class 5: 2,867 (-644)
  • Estate – Class 7: 9,864 (-2,516)
  • Estate – Class 8: 6,808 (+3,053)
  • Estate – Class Unknown: 770 (-50)
  • Linden – Class 5: 1,371 (-15)
  • Linden – Class 7: 1,924 (-478)
  • Linden – Class 8: 3,573 (+493)
  • Linden – Class Unknown: 240 (+20)

That means that over the last month or so, mainland and private estates have seen an increase of around 3,546 regions running on class 8 server class.
